From first sketch to full production

Our five-stage development process

Phase 1

Feasibility (POC) / Strategy & Concept

We define system architecture, test core principles on non-integrated rigs and model early COGS. CMF research, concept designs, and 3D-printed form studies resolve ergonomics, scale and brand fit across two or three concept directions.

Phase 2

Concept demonstration (CDP)

Partially integrated units reach the bench: looks similar, works similar. We refine internal layouts, draft the first BOM and shape an enclosure around COTS electronics without compromising design intent.

Phase 3

Design and development (Alpha)

Alpha units look like and work like the final product, ready for field trials. Suppliers begin DFM reviews while we lock the form factor in manufacturable CAD.

Phase 4

Design transfer to tooling (Beta)

Tooled, production-like units go into verification, reliability and user trials. We close out drawings and COGS, and check every unit against the CMF standard set at CDP.

Phase 5

Production (MP)

We support the pilot ramp and supplier QA, deliver the full production pack, and verify that what comes off the line matches the finish we defined

We've won Good Design Awards in 2025 for Arc by Varivac and Dogloc, Gold in 2021 for wheezo, Zygo and Okti, and Best in Class for the Presto salon hairbrush cleaner. Beyond Good Design, we've picked up over 100 local and global awards, including iF, Red Dot and the Victorian Premier's Design Awards.
