Sensors That Don't Need a Technician
The Brolga water treatment plant we built for Water Source Australia collects more than 20 data points per second and resolves most faults on its own. It runs unattended in some of the most isolated locations in Australia, and operators can monitor it from anywhere.
At OuterSpace, we ensure we have all of the in-house skills to take a product from requirements to tangible components. Complete Electronic Engineering: circuit design, PCB schematic capture and layout in Altium, and firmware for the hardware we've just specified. Fast-turnaround prototyping through partner networks means we're testing real boards early, not waiting on a single production run to find out what's wrong

Every design decision trades one against the others.
Power, Connectivity and Precision Compete in Electronic Engineering.
Wearable and low-power products force a choice between energy efficiency, computation and range, so we specify the microcontroller, Arm Cortex-M0+ through M4, based on which of those the product actually needs. For Brolga, that meant a secure, cloud-connected architecture linking pumps, sensors and filtration into one system, engineered to run without on-ground intervention.
That challenge showed up directly in the fault-resolution logic, not just the sensor layout.

"A broad range of industry experience from the Outerspace team challenged our assumptions and led to a much better design solution."
— Jim Gallagher, Water Source.

Vision and image capture
We design vision and image capture systems using devices such as CMOS image and thermal image sensors. We use Ethernet and high-speed USB products, for real time streaming of image outputs with Linux based operating systems on-board, for edge computing and image handling.

From Wearable to Industrial products:
Our team has extensive experience in the development of wearable and low power products, utilising current design techniques based on what the product needs. We specify low power or ultra-efficient microcontrollers and multi-core microprocessors – Arm® Cortex®-M0+, M33 and M4. We design connected products using cellular connectivity – 4G LTE / 5G, or other wireless technologies – Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
For industrial products; We use radio and communications links designed for a specific purpose, with data acquisition and analog-to-digital conversion (ADC), engineered and designed to high precision and accuracy – error budgets and circuit verification. We use best-in-class manufacturers like STMicroelectronics, Nordic Semiconductor and Texas Instruments

In-house capabilities:
