Challenge
A licensed technology with no product roadmap
LRM Technologies held the licence to apply Defence Science and Technology Group software to a thermal camera concept capable of detecting the metal fatigue stresses that cause aircraft failures. LRM's managing director had a clear idea of what the underlying technology could achieve, but no clear pathway from licensed software to a manufacturable physical product.
Building the roadmap before the hardware
We worked with LRM and DST Group to define the product format and the development pathway needed to take the concept to a working camera, resolving the engineering decisions that sit between defence-grade research software and a device that could be built, certified and sold.
Outcome
The result is a thermal imaging camera capable of quantifying the stress that causes metal fatigue, giving aerospace and engineering teams a way to detect a failure mode that was previously difficult to see coming.
