Challenge
Security without turning a leash into a lock
Existing anti-theft options for tethering a dog were secondary add-ons, bolted onto an ordinary leash and collar, bulky and easy to forget. Dogloc's founders wanted integrated security that still looked, and felt, like an everyday leather leash and collar.
One key, two lock points
We engineered a single locking mechanism built into both the collar and the lead, reinforced with a stainless-steel core resistant to cutting and chewing, while keeping the leather finish owners expect from a premium product. Every unit was stress and break tested before production sign-off.
Outcome
Dogloc launched as the world's first lockable leash and collar system and won a 2025 Good Design Award. Owners get one motion, a single turn of a key, to secure both collar and lead to a fixed point.
Technical Insights:
Industrial design (Creativity)
Leather finish retained around an integrated locking mechanism, so the product reads as an accessory, not a security device
Mechanical engineering (Capability)
Stainless-steel reinforced core through collar and lead, stress and break tested for cut and chew resistance

The engineering team overcame challenges of integrating a secure lock into a lightweight, wearable system without compromising usability. The mechanism had to be robust enough to resist tampering, yet simple enough for owners to operate daily.
