Agriculture & Environment
Product engineering for agriculture, environment and agtech.

At outerspace we develop products and technology systems for the agricultural sector, and agtech scale-ups.
We design and engineer products that protect and preserve our natural environment. We collaborate with our clients to build systems and products that are used and installed in rugged, outdoor and extreme weather locations.

Systems Built to Run Without Us There
We built the Brolga micro water treatment plant for Water Source Australia. It produces 30,000 litres of safe drinking water a day, running unattended in some of the country's most isolated locations. Most faults resolve themselves before an operator ever sees an alert.
Agricultural and environmental products get deployed somewhere nobody's checking on them daily. We design for that reality first, weather, distance, and the absence of a technician on call.

Nobody's driving out to fix it when it breaks.
Remote Has to Mean Self-Sufficient
Brolga's control system collects more than 20 data points a second through a secure, cloud-connected architecture linking pumps, sensors and multi-stage filtration. Every unit is networkable, so operators can monitor and reconfigure a whole site from anywhere.
"A broad range of industry experience from the Outerspace team challenged our assumptions and led to a much better design solution" says Jim Gallagher at Water Source. That challenge is built into the fault-resolution logic running inside every unit today.
In-house capabilities:
Water conservation systems, alternative energy integration, rugged outdoor engineering, animal behaviour monitoring, harvesting equipment, extreme weather durability, IoT sensor networks
Standards we work to:
Australian and WHO drinking water standards
