As industrial designers, we’re creative and agile problem solvers.

We design products people love and manufacturers can build. Grounded in usability and clear product design language, we shape form, interface and CMF to create intuitive, distinctive experiences. We bring ideas to life through product visualisation, CAD and physical models, communicating intent, exploring options and aligning teams early. Working closely with mechanical, electronics, firmware and systems engineers, as well as program managers, we ensure feasibility, reliability and a smooth path to production. We deliver validated prototypes, clear design intent, and visualisations and documentation ready for supplier and marketing engagement.

Designed to Stand Out in the Market

We design standout products that reflect your brand, respond to market trends and outperform competitors. Our industrial designers balance innovation with real-world commercial goals. Through design strategy, competitive landscape review, product positioning and CMF development, we shape distinctive product forms and user experiences that connect with people and succeed in the market.

Industrial Design for Production Success

We ensure design intent is manufacturable and aligned with engineering, tooling and assembly. Our industrial designers work closely with engineers and suppliers throughout development, defining clear part breakups, surface details and CMF specifications. Through iterative prototyping and collaboration, we reduce risk, accelerate progress and enable a smooth transition into production.

Product Usability and User Experience

We create intuitive, accessible products that are easy to use and aligned with real-world workflows. Our industrial designers work across digital and physical touchpoints, shaping product architecture, human-machine interfaces (HMI) and interaction zones. Through design strategy, user observations, interviews and focus groups, we define interaction principles and usability criteria that guide development and improve the overall experience.

Product visualisation and prototyping

We bring ideas to life through sketches, CAD, renders and physical models that communicate design intent and support decision-making. Our visual outputs help align teams, guide development and provide compelling assets for marketing, stakeholder engagement and capital raising.

Product photography of the award winning Outerspace designed dog collar and leash for Dogloc. Dogloc is an integrated dog locking system designed to securely lock your pet for brief periods of time. Integrated Security cable, and barrell lock. Stress and break tested.

Anti-theft dog leash and collar – Dogloc

Outerspace supported the development of the award winning DOGLOC, the world’s first lockable leash and collar system.

Dog owners often need to tether their pets safely for short periods, whether stopping at a café, running an errand, or stepping away briefly in public. Traditional leashes and collars provide limited security, leaving dogs vulnerable to theft or accidental escape. Existing anti-theft solutions are typically secondary locks or add-ons, lacking integration and ease of use.
The challenge was to create a product that combined everyday usability with enhanced security, while ensuring durability, comfort for the dog, and a stylish aesthetic that appeals to modern pet owners.

Touch activated spin and touring bike

A developer of interactive fitness equipment with integrated gaming software, needed to develop a new combination spin and exercise bike for the boutique gymnasium and home gym markets.

They wanted to develop a never-seen-before bike that had two distinct modes of operation – spin and exercise bike mode to be housed in one hardware system, operated by a touch screen and supported by their software.

LED lighting kits for LEGO

Light My Bricks approached Outerspace to help expand beyond their maker-focused lighting accessories for LEGO®, with a goal of creating a consumer-friendly product range. The challenge was to design a system that was simple, safe, and intuitive, while still allowing flexibility and integration into LEGO® sets.

Outerspace’s task was to reimagine the electronics, usability, and product architecture to deliver a new Night Mode range — one that could bring lighting effects to LEGO® creations without the complexity of traditional wiring.

Wearable neurology monitor

Okti is a wearable, high-density electro-encephalogram amplifier or EEG. Outerspace worked with neurological device manufacturer, Compumedics, to design Okti for rapid set up by a clinician, to analyse brain conditions while patients are mobile. Optimised for children, Okti provides crucial diagnosis of brain disorders to enable early and effective treatment.

Urban electric bike

Joybold set out to design an Urban electric bike for the American market, where cycling is rapidly gaining traction as cities adapt with new bike lanes and infrastructure. The challenge was to create a rugged yet sophisticated electric bicycle that could handle both daily urban commutes and weekend recreational rides.

Unlike many e-bikes that lean toward utilitarian or purely sporty aesthetics, Joybold wanted an iconic design that balanced functionality with style, appealing to commuters, families, and leisure riders alike. Outerspace was tasked with developing a product that would stand out while fitting seamlessly into the growing U.S. e-bike market.

Vacuum Pump in a medical treatment room - wound dressing

Negative pressure wound therapy device

Varivac set out to create ARC, a variable vacuum wound drainage pump designed for patients recovering from surgery. Unlike traditional hospital-based systems, ARC needed to be low-cost, compact, lightweight, and quiet enough for patients to comfortably use at home. The device also had to meet strict medical safety standards while giving patients more independence in their recovery.

Outerspace worked closely with Varivac to take on this challenge. Our multidisciplinary team provided design, engineering, and development expertise to transform the concept into a fully realized medical device, ready for safe, effective, and affordable use in both hospital and home environments. A unique algorithm was written to detect blockages and leakages from a single pressure sensor input only, in order to ensure high functionality with low cost.
