Flush-mounted, automatically presenting automotive door handle

A door handle is more than a simple mechanism; it is the primary physical handshake between a user and a space. Our client identified a distinct gap in the automotive hardware market: the need for a handle that offered high-end “designer” aesthetics without compromising on the heavy-duty reliability required in high-end automotive markets. RT engaged Outerspace to provide specialised technical services for the development of a flush-mounted, automatically presenting door handle. The challenge for Outerspace was to create a product that felt as refined as it looked, minimalist enough to complement modern automotive design trends, yet substantial enough to communicate quality the moment a hand reaches for it.

Autonomous Delivery Vehicle

As autonomous delivery shifts from idea to an everyday reality, getting a robot to navigate a sidewalk is one thing; but getting people to trust it is another. Teksbotics teamed up with us to create a delivery robot that feels approachable, not mechanical. The aim was simple: design something that works for everyone, regardless of age, and bridges the gap between advanced robotics and human interaction. Whether it’s sitting outside someone’s home or moving through a crowded street, the vehicle needed to feel safe, reliable, and easy to understand.

VF WILD Mid-Sized-ePICKUP Truck

The VinFast Wild, launched at CES, has changed the automotive landscape for mid-sized pickups.

The objective for VinFast was to launch into the pickup truck market with a unique offering that would break the mould, and focus on sustainability.

To have an impact for Vinfast, the Wild needed to stand out and give customers something that hadn’t been done before – a non-traditional, versatile, lifestyle-oriented EV pickup truck.

Hydrogen Dispenser

As China pushes harder into hydrogen-powered transport, the infrastructure behind it needs to keep up. Our client spotted a clear issue early on: while the tech itself was moving forward quickly, the dispensers still looked like old petrol pumps. They didn’t reflect the shift to cleaner energy. The brief was to create something more distinctive, something that felt modern and forward-looking, while still being practical to produce at scale across the country. Outerspace partnered with Hydrexia (Formerly Hyfun Energy) to make this dream a reality.

Touch activated spin and touring bike

A developer of interactive fitness equipment with integrated gaming software, needed to develop a new combination spin and exercise bike for the boutique gymnasium and home gym markets.

They wanted to develop a never-seen-before bike that had two distinct modes of operation – spin and exercise bike mode to be housed in one hardware system, operated by a touch screen and supported by their software.

VF3 Mini-eSUV

VinFast wanted to revolutionise the urban mobility market with a game-changing mini-eSUV offering practicality and style.

GoMotiv faced an exciting challenge: create a compact eSUV that combines bold styling with utility and affordability—a vehicle that would inspire a new generation of younger drivers. This required a design with unbound imagination.

Working closely with VinFast’s engineering team, we developed the VF3 from initial concept through to production-ready design, crafting a vehicle that maximised space within city-friendly dimensions.

Our team leveraged advanced digital tools for rapid iteration, allowing the simultaneous development of multiple variants. This accelerated process enabled quick feedback cycles with VinFast, eliminating the delays typical with traditional modelling methods.

Ford F150 LHD to RHD

Outerspace-Gomotiv was engaged to as the Design Studio Partner for a major engineering firm to convert the Ford F-150 from left-hand drive (LHD) to right-hand drive (RHD).

Working within strict constraints of engineering requirements, carry over components, costs, and user needs,  Gomotiv re-designed and sculpted high-quality A-Class surface outcomes for the vehicle.  The project balanced the need to maintain the high standard of Ford production surface quality, reduce complexity, and improve conversion assembly operations while seamlessly blending into the established Ford design aesthetic for a true OEM finish.

Using our extensive experience in developing production vehicles, Gomotiv can seamlessly and efficiently bring conversions and upgraded products to new markets or expand an existing range all the while ensuring design quality and style match or exceed OEM expectations.

EV docking and charging system

Microfleet set out to create OneDock, a secure EV docking, charging and locking system for shared-use electric vehicles, including bikes, trikes, and scooters, designed for installation in public spaces. Unlike existing micromobility docks, OneDock needed to be durable, connected, and easy to use, providing reliable charging and locking in all weather conditions while integrating seamlessly with fleet management networks.

Outerspace partnered with Microfleet from early development through to late alpha deployment. Our multidisciplinary team delivered mechanical, electronic, firmware, and industrial design, working alongside Microfleet’s software and business teams to shape a scalable, field-ready product. The result is a smart public infrastructure system that enables secure parking, charging, and data-driven fleet operation for next-generation electric mobility.

Robust Vehicle Mounted WiFi hotspot

Farmers, agricultural businesses, and rural residents often struggle with poor internet coverage, limiting productivity, connectivity, and access to digital tools. Zetifi, a leader in rural connectivity solutions, wanted to expand their offering with a roaming WiFi hotspot device that could be vehicle-mounted, flexible, and robust enough to work in remote environments.

Outerspace partnered with Zetifi to refine and engineer this product into a manufacturable solution. Starting from Zetifi’s initial hardware outline, we worked collaboratively to define requirements, balance cost versus features, and create a system that could deliver reliable connectivity across a wide range of rural applications.

Urban electric bike

Joybold set out to design an Urban electric bike for the American market, where cycling is rapidly gaining traction as cities adapt with new bike lanes and infrastructure. The challenge was to create a rugged yet sophisticated electric bicycle that could handle both daily urban commutes and weekend recreational rides.

Unlike many e-bikes that lean toward utilitarian or purely sporty aesthetics, Joybold wanted an iconic design that balanced functionality with style, appealing to commuters, families, and leisure riders alike. Outerspace was tasked with developing a product that would stand out while fitting seamlessly into the growing U.S. e-bike market.

Our Class‑A surfacing and 3D modelling specialists take your concept through digital sculpting to production‑ready CAD. We use subdivisional modelling techniques and algorithm‑assisted design to refine complex surfaces efficiently, reducing iteration cycles while maintaining tight tolerances.

Structural and functional components are developed alongside the exterior surfaces to ensure packaging, ingress protection and ease of assembly. We run finite‑element analyses and kinematic studies to validate strength, stiffness and ergonomics, and our designs always consider manufacturing processes such as injection moulding, die casting and fabrication.

Prototyping is essential to de‑risking transport products. Our fully equipped prototyping workshop includes Milling and Lathe machining, metal fabrication, hand tools, woodworking, and both FDM and resin 3D printing to rapidly build parts and assemblies.

This allows our talented Product Design Engineers and Mechanical Engineers to construct functional prototypes for ergonomic studies, mechanical testing and electronics validation, and we collaborate with specialist suppliers for composites and machined components.

Early prototypes reveal insights that cannot be seen on screen, allowing us to refine shapes, user interfaces and serviceability. We subject prototypes to vibration, environmental, drop tests and life‑cycle tests to ensure they can withstand harsh transport conditions.

Our iterative test‑and‑learn approach shortens development time and ensures the final design is both manufacturable and reliable.
